Q: Why Do I need Hosting?

Q: Who can register a domain name?
A: Anyone can register a domain name or sub domain name especially if you’ve got a web site with a long URL that is hard to remember.

Q: What is an XRoad sub-domain?
A: It’s a web address (yourname.xroad.com) that you can get from us to replace that long and unprofessional web address you get from your ISP, school or hosting company, and for a limited time its absolutely FREE!!!

Q: How long can I keep my FREE XRoad sub-domain?
A: You can keep your XRoad sub-domain for as long as you like. However, we retain the right to terminate your XRoad sub-domain in the event of misuse and / or prolonged non-usage.

Q: Do you offer redirect service?
A: Yes, XRoad will redirect your domain name to any web address you currently have in case you don't want to use our hosting. If you ever change your ISP or move to another host, all you have to do is return to our site and enter your new web address and the changes take place immediately.

Q: Can I use my FREE XRoad sub-domain for spamming!
A: ABSOLUTELY NOT! XRoad strongly feels that the sending of unsolicited advertising via bulk e-mail constitutes theft of service and XRoad does not condone the use of our service for this practice. XRoad reserves the right to remove and terminate any XRoad sub-domain used in connection to spamming.

A: Yes we do. When you register your own domain name (www.yourname.com) and have it redirected, your e-mail will automatically be redirected as well.

Q: Is there any charge for e-mail redirect services?
A: There is no additional charge when you register your own domain name (www.yourname.com) and have it redirected, or purchase hosting.

Q: Are e-mail redirect services available when you register for an XRoad sub-domain?
A: No. E-mail redirect services are only available when you register your own domain name (www.yourname.com) and have it redirected.

Q. How do I transfer files to my web space?

Q. How do I change my email redirect?
A: You can change your email redirect by logging into your member's area.

Q. How long does it take to update my email redirect?
A: It may take up to an hour for your redirect to take effect.

Q. I uploaded my site to your server, why can't I see it?
A: Did you include a file called index.html? It is important to make sure that this file is in your directory, and to be sure it is spelled correctly. If you do not have an index.html then our server won't know where to start your page.

Here's a tip:
If the program you used to make your web site creates a file called main.htm, default.htm, or index.htm, then just make a copy of that file, and rename it to index.html.
